You can find dishes like ceviche and shrimp, alongside more familiar options like nachos and quesadillas. Their margaritas are also a highlight. Plus, they offer free Wi-Fi, which is handy for catching up on emails.
While Michael and I wanted to try some local food, we knew the kids might be a bit antsy. Pancho’s offered a good middle ground – nice enough for us to relax but still casual enough not to stress about the little ones.

Even though it’s a well-known chain, Margaritaville offers a fun waterfront setting with views of the turquoise Caribbean waters. They have an extensive drink menu and serve bar food classics like “Volcano Nachos,” burgers, sandwiches, and ribs. Expect a lively atmosphere with music and dancing, similar to other party bars in the area. It’s also a spot to find souvenirs related to Jimmy Buffett.
Senor Frog’s
Senor Frog’s is famous for its upbeat, party atmosphere, and the Cozumel location lives up to that reputation. Situated right on the water under a large palapa, it provides excellent views back towards the cruise ships. The food is typical Mexican beach fare, including guacamole, tacos, and nachos, as well as American favorites like burgers and wings. Beer and tequila are popular choices, and dancing is definitely encouraged.
We found ourselves at Senor Frog’s one afternoon just to experience the energy. While the kids were a little overwhelmed by the loud music, the vibrant atmosphere was undeniably fun for a short while. They enjoyed just people-watching from our table.
Cafe Punta del Cielo
If you’re in need of a coffee fix, this small café offers a welcome respite. It features an upscale, modern setting serving coffees, desserts, and pastries. Free Wi-Fi is available, making it a pleasant spot to relax, sit, and perhaps send a quick message home to share your adventures.

Although technically outside the port gates, Hard Rock Cafe is a very short walk from the International Pier. The restaurant is known for its music memorabilia, and it also houses what’s said to be the smallest Hard Rock retail shop globally.
Ix Kool
Located in the Royal Village Shopping Center, just across from the International Pier, Ix Kool is highly regarded for its Mayan cuisine. This offers a chance to try something unique, with dishes ranging from guacamole and ceviche to pork tacos and papadzules. Reviews consistently praise the authentic flavors and excellent service, making it a great choice for a more adventurous and local dining experience compared to more tourist-focused venues.
I decided to try Ix Kool for lunch one day. I wanted to taste something genuinely Mayan, and the papadzules were a fascinating and delicious experience. It felt like a real culinary discovery away from the typical cruise port fare.

This is another casual spot located just outside the port area, offering a more budget-friendly option than some of the restaurants closer to the ship. You can often find 2-for-1 drink specials. The food is standard Mexican fare like guac, nachos, and quesadillas, with some American options like chicken strips available for pickier eaters. Free Wi-Fi is a nice bonus here, allowing you to connect without paying the ship’s often high rates.
We ended our day exploring near San Juan Snack Bar. It was perfect for grabbing a final, affordable drink and some chips before we had to head back. It felt like a genuine local spot, less commercial than those directly in the port.
