American Airlines Adds Daily Flights to Dominica

The idea of fresh, daily flights into Dominica from the United States sounded almost too good to be true, but reaching this lush Caribbean island is genuinely becoming easier. It used to feel like a major expedition, a journey requiring careful planning and often multiple connections. Now, with airlines ramping up their schedules and even a ferry service bolstering its routes, the island is opening up like never before.

Michael and I had always dreamed of exploring Dominica, but the travel logistics always felt daunting. Now, with American Airlines flying daily from Miami, it feels far more manageable for a family trip. It’s a significant shift from the three-times-weekly service we’d seen previously.

It means we can potentially connect through Trinidad to reach Dominica, opening up possibilities for visiting other islands on the same trip. The airline also provides connections to the New York/New Jersey area via JFK and to Toronto in Canada.

InterCaribbean Airways is also significantly boosting its presence. They’ve been steadily increasing their daily flights to Dominica (DOM) and have enhanced connections throughout the region. The addition of the ATR 42-500 aircraft to their Eastern Caribbean routes has definitely improved their capacity and efficiency. This is great news for getting around the smaller islands if we decide to extend our stay or explore from Dominica as a base.

InterCaribbean now operates 17 weekly flights into Dominica (DOM), primarily from Barbados (BGI) and St. Lucia (SLU). Seven weekly departures in total provide a solid option for shorter trips or if you’re already in one of those locations.

Winair is also a key player for European travelers. If you’re flying from Amsterdam, you can connect via St. Maarten (SXM) with major airlines like KLM and Air France. This creates a pretty straightforward travel route for visitors coming from Europe, making the journey to Dominica more efficient.

Silver Airways plays a crucial role for U.S. travelers. They have codeshare partnerships with American Airlines, JetBlue, United, and Delta. This means you can book your entire journey to Dominica through these major U.S. carriers, with Silver Airways handling the leg from San Juan (SJU) to Dominica (DOM) on their ATR aircraft. This travel solution bundles a flight from Orly, Paris, to Guadeloupe, followed by a shuttle to the seaport, and then a ferry with L’Express Des Isles to Dominica.
