The island’s coastline, particularly on the south and west, is already brimming with fantastic hotels, and 2026 is shaping up to be quite the year with several new additions and refreshed favorites.
New Hotels Arriving
It’s always thrilling to see new properties emerge, and Barbados is getting its fair share. Two major hotel chains are making their debut next year, bringing fresh energy and new experiences to the island.
Hotel Indigo Bridgetown
First up, the Hotel Indigo Bridgetown Barbados is slated to open its doors on January 12, 2026. This new addition from InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is nestled on the southwestern coast in Hastings, just a short drive from the vibrant capital, Bridgetown. I’m so looking forward to checking this place out!
The Hotel Indigo brand is known for its unique, locally-inspired approach, and I can already imagine how they’ll capture the spirit of Barbados. The property itself is set to offer 132 rooms, which sounds like a good size – not too overwhelming but with plenty of options. They’re planning three restaurants, which is always a big plus for me; variety is key when you’re on vacation.
And the amenities! A rooftop bar and pool are on the agenda, which instantly makes me think of sunset cocktails with a view. There’s also a ground-level pool, a spa for some serious pampering, and other facilities that promise a truly comfortable stay. I’ve even gone ahead and booked a night myself, so stay tuned for my full review once it opens! They are already accepting bookings, with rates starting around $480 per night. It feels like a significant investment, but for a brand-new boutique experience in Barbados, I’m willing to take the chance.
Royalton Vessence Barbados
Following closely is the Royalton Vessence Barbados, opening July 1, 2026. This resort is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection and, importantly for some, will be an adult-only, all-inclusive experience. It’s situated right on the west coast shoreline in Holetown, a neighborhood I’ve always found particularly charming and elegant.
This resort boasts 220 suites, offering a luxurious amount of space for guests. Foodies will be excited to hear about the nine restaurants and five bars – talk about culinary adventures! What truly caught my eye, though, is the inclusion of an art studio. The idea of participating in art, pottery, and culinary workshops sounds like such a unique way to immerse myself and my family (if we were traveling with the kids this time, it would be perfect for older teens!) in the local culture and creativity.
Beyond the usual relaxation and wellness offerings like yoga and breathwork sessions, they’ve even introduced a “digital detox” area. I can definitely see the appeal of unplugging for a bit, especially in such a beautiful setting. Although it’s an Autograph Collection hotel, meaning it’ll have that distinct, independently operated boutique feel, Marriott’s oversight ensures a certain standard of service. You’ll need to plan for a four-night minimum stay here, which is reasonable for an all-inclusive experience.
Pendry Barbados
Looking further into next year, Pendry Hotels and Resorts is making its international debut with Pendry Barbados, expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. This luxury boutique brand is establishing itself on the west coast at Six Mens Bay. Having followed Pendry’s growth, I’m eager to see how they translate their sophisticated style to an island paradise.
The hotel itself will feature 80 beachfront guest rooms, promising stunning ocean views. There will be multiple dining options, a spa, and a dedicated children’s area – a thoughtful touch. For maritime enthusiasts, direct marina access is a huge draw, perfect for those who might arrive by sea or simply enjoy the yachting life.
Adding another layer to this development is the Pendry Residences Barbados, which has taken over the Port Ferdinand residential resort. These residences include 46 villas, ranging from two to five bedrooms. The synergy between the villas and the hotel seems seamless, offering residents full access to the marina and all the hotel’s amenities. While details about the hotel itself are still emerging, the estimated late 2026 opening suggests it will be a significant and luxurious addition to the west coast.
Hyatt Ziva Barbados
On the southern edge of the island, just south of the city center and adjacent to the beautiful Carlisle Bay, is the upcoming Hyatt Ziva Barbados. Initially planned as a Hyatt Centric, this family-friendly, all-inclusive resort is making steady progress. I’ve driven past the construction site, and it’s impressive in scale.
The project involves three separate buildings and will house 380 guest suites, alongside 40 condominium units. Things are still in the early stages, but with the substructure work reportedly wrapping up by the end of 2025, foundation work is set to begin. The developers are aiming for a completion date by the end of 2027. However, as anyone who’s followed hotel developments knows, there’s often a bit of slippage, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a 2028 opening.
Marriott Brands Undergoing Refurbishment
Beyond the new builds, several beloved Marriott properties are also making a comeback after significant refurbishment. It’s always wonderful to see these established resorts get a refresh.
The Tamarind Resort, part of the Autograph Collection, is expected to reopen on January 1, 2026. This is a property I’ve enjoyed before, and I’m keen to see its updated offerings. Following that, the Crystal Cove Hotel and Turtle Beach, both under the Tribute Portfolio brand, are scheduled to reopen later in 2026.
